The Counselor - Often we view Jesus as the one who has all the answers, but there are places in the gospels where Jesus was the one asking the questions of others. In fact, Jesus asked over 100-recorded questions in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. That’s the best way to learn: to ask questions and then grapple with it with others to find the answer. It’s a very Jewish Rabbi approach, but it’s also a counselor approach. In this 4-week series we will consider some questions that Jesus asks us.
Week 1 - “Why Do You Doubt?" (Luke 24:36-39 and John 20:24-29)
Week 2 - “What Are You Looking For?” (John 1:35-51) Week 3 - “Do You Want to Get Well?” (John 5:1-9a) Week 4 - "Do You Believe I Can Do This?” (Matthew 9:27-30) |
statement of inclusion.
Journey at Christ Church is called to the ministry of reconciliation. We embrace, as a gift, the diversity of our neighborhood and the world. We celebrate our human diversity of age, education, ethnicity, faith history, gender identity, marital status, mental and physical ability, political view, race, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status.
We affirm that all people are created in the image of God, and, as beloved children of God, all are worthy of God’s love and grace. We welcome all people into participation in the life and ministries of Journey at Christ Church as we journey together toward Jesus.
We recognize that there are differences among us, but that we are more alike than we are different. We believe that we can love alike even though we may not think alike. We also believe that we are called to love each other, embracing our differences rather than excluding others because of them. We proclaim this statement of welcome to all who have known the pain of exclusion or discrimination in the church and society. We invite all people to join us in our faith journey toward greater love, understanding, and mutual respect.
